Past Monthly Logic Puzzle

Answer:

Standing in the basement, turn one light switch on (SWITCH #1). Wait at least 3 minutes – turn SWITCH #1 off and turn SWITCH #2 on. Go upstairs. The light that is on belongs to SWITCH #2, the light that is off and cool to the touch belongs to SWITCH #3 and the light that is off and warm to the touch belongs to SWITCH # 1. :)

Question:

I have always liked this puzzle! I first read it in a magazine when I was ~12.

Hint: Think creatively and enjoy – Check back for the answer August 10th

There are three light switches in the basement of your new mansion. Each corresponds to one of the three light bulbs in the upstairs bedrooms. You can turn the switches on and off and leave them in any position.

Can you identify which bulb corresponds to each switch with only one trip? If so how?
